12 year old with holstered handgun, father with shouldered rifle seen at Sky Harbor airport

http://www.abc15.com/dpp/news/region_phoenix_metro/central_phoenix/phoenix-police-monitor-man-child-carrying-rifle-handgun-at-sky-harbor

PHOENIX - Police monitored a man and child armed with a rifle and handgun when picking up a passenger Sunday afternoon at Sky Harbor International Airport.

According to Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump, an officer patrolling Terminal 3 was told a man had a rifle slung over his shoulder in a public area of the terminal around 4:30 p.m.

The man was with his 12-year-old son, who had a handgun holstered to his hip, Crump said.

The man reportedly told officers that he was waiting to pick up an arriving passenger and was armed out of fear for his safety.

Crump said Phoenix officers monitored the man and his son during their time at the airport and stayed with them until they left the property.

"Laws change drastically once you enter a secured area of the airport; however, state law governs the publicly accessible areas and these actions are not prohibited," Crump said.

This comes two days after a man shot and killed a TSA agent with a rifle at the Los Angeles International Airport.

and the cops didn't shoot him on sight? Less than a few days after a shooting spree at another major airport?

Go figure...

Where are those DUers screaming up and down that if they saw Andy Lopez in their neighborhoods *THEY* would have shot him??

So they're trading their own paranoia for everyone else's sense of well being. It's selfish bullshit.

While the police were busy watching him and his son, the rest of the airport was probably ignored. What about the safety of everyone else in the place?
