I am a creature of habit. My son is autistic and I wouldn't doubt if I have some tendencies as well. I enjoy falling asleep to Frasier, The Golden Girls and I Love Lucy at night. They are playing non stop Christmas movies. Does this mean I won't be able to fall asleep to my favorite shows until after the new year?

(12,081 posts)Christmas. But this is excessive. This is why some people hate Christmas. I have avert my eyes when passing by Kohl's. They put up Christmas decorations before Halloween. What other holiday lasts two and a half months long?

(15,024 posts)and the way the economy is structured, it's a very critical part of the process. Something like one-quarter of all personal spending takes place during this "season." Were we to "get rid of it" without transitioning to something different, our entire economic model would collapse.
Your beef isn't with religion or its holiday. It's with the predatory economic system that co-opted the holiday to feed its rapacious need for growth and constant sales. And tackling that monster is an infinitely greater challenge than convincing a religion to reclaim its history and heritage.

(23,998 posts)I hate it when they throw Frasier and the GGs under the bus for their cheesy Xmas movies.

This will alternate with "Man vs. Yuletide", wherein Adam Richman attempts to eat an entire Christmas Tree, smothered in taco sauce, in each of twelve US cities.
Oh, I almost forgot "A Kardashian Kristmas," the "Honey Boo Boo Christmas Spectacular," and Animal Planet's "Cute Pets Wearing Santa Hats" (a perennial favorite).

(102,119 posts)I've watched those Golden Girl reruns at least a dozen times, but it is so damned comforting to fall asleep to "the Girls"... I have the most basic of tv packages and the loss of this one channel to endless formulaic Christmas movies, is really pissing me off!

(12,017 posts)they do this every year... they have about 150 christmas movies that they have to get in and they have to start sometime in June to make sure they all air at least 5 times each. i can't believe you have never experienced this before... it has happened every year since we have HAD a Hallmark Channel.
