Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsMy take: the President told the truth to 97% of the country
97% get to keep the coverage they have, or get better coverage cheaper.
3% got their substandard plans cancelled and will have to pay more.
To those 3% that the RW is exploiting, I say this:
You thought you were covered.... But for most of you, the minute you got a serious illness, your insurance company was going to drop you anyway. The insurance you had was a scam. The ACA is forcing you to pay more for care or pay the penalty. But for every one like you, there are 10 who now have access to insurance that they didn't have before. The ACA will help even you in the long run.

(93,532 posts)... and goes to jail of course they can't keep their HCI Plan
If the HCI plan sucks and the tax payer has to pick up the bill a person can't keep their HCI plan
The response to the M$M and wingers droning on about this is bad messaging from the White House...
Tell the M$M and wingers to fug off and use common sense

(15,444 posts)This is exactly how I feel.
Corporate Media only cares about taking this president down any which way they can. The message we should be sending out when it concerns Corporate Media is: trust but verify.
At the moment, I've noticed that MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell, Chris Matthews, Rachel Maddow, Big Ed Schultz, Chris Hayes, Al Sharpton, and especially Joy Reid of the Grio.com are continuously asking why "the media" are reporting only one side of the ACA issues, and why haven't they been holding Big Insurance responsible for not informing their customers that they can go to the exchange to get a better policy when they send out the cancellation letters.

(27,315 posts)Ap reporter states that the cancellation letters will impact 2014.
Frankly, a good host would ask her whether getting insurance for the first time would also impact the election. Incredible.

(93,532 posts)... knew them cancelling their bunk ass'd policies around the ACA rollout would be headline news and the stupid ass'd M$M (along with the White House non response) is making this into more of a story than it's worth

Because we live in a corporatist consumerist system, large health care organization who sold you substandard over inflated health swindle plans may cancel your coverage and con you into buying and even more expensive highway robbery health care plan so they can funnel that money to Tea-party candidates as a reward for doing absolutely fucking nothing for two years.

(93,532 posts)... you can't keep it... Obama doesn't have to say that in every speech.
Next the "victims" will blame Obama for plans being canceled after premiums aren't payed

(68,448 posts)you are supposed to do it with *attitude*--not look down to be sure nothing will cause a problem and then politely "lay" it on the floor.
He is too darned nice and self-effacing sometimes. I would like to see him show a little more ego, though I certainly understand why he thinks he can't risk that as the first Black president.

(10,960 posts)When you want to include a lot of possible exceptions to a blanket statement while not lying the usual procedure is to use words like Probably... Mostly... Likely.
That would allow a statement to be a little thing we call "true"

(93,532 posts)...for prom, teenager totals car before prom, parents have to tell teen that they can't drive car to prom!?!?!?!?!?
NO!!
That's common sense conclusion based off info in front of teen...
If your HCI Plan sucks, you can't keep it... that's not hard IMHO and it's written...
Also, the HCI's cancelled the plans... ACA didn't cancel anything.
The onus should be placed on the people who made sucky plans AFTER.. AFTER ACA was inacted...
Hmmmm, didn't think about that...
Yeap, another

(10,960 posts)What you just wrote contains several lies, and a wholly unwarranted personal attack.
I do not say I am surprised. I'm not.
Just noting the fact.

(93,532 posts)... the facts are presented... can't retort based on the facts start attacking the poster.
Either way.
HCI's canceled the plans not Obama or the ACA... it's the HCI's fault for having sucky plans post ACA effect law

(15,444 posts)Nice parroting there, cthulu. The question is, why would you want to parrot Rightwing talking points on a Democratic Party supporting site?

rather, just someone that fails to recognize piling onto a simplistic narrative that he/she (presumably) know works against the ACA is counter-productive, even the narrative at its absolute, but limited, root is true.

Seems like a lot of money to waste though

(72,790 posts)there should have been protections (or more protections) to prevent this from happening now and in the future.

(113 posts)I get health insurance through the company I work for. I pay a portion of the cost. The portion I pay has doubled over the last three years. I was told this was due to the increase in coverage required by the ACA and that the company was putting in more money as well. A lot of companies renegotiate their health plans every year to get a competitive price. My story must be true for people who work for companies all over the country.
So, your statement "97% get to keep the coverage they have, or get better coverage cheaper" can't possibly be true.
BlueCaliDem
(15,444 posts)above and beyond all others?
You do know that the PPACA is not socialized medicine, right? Because to absolve your HCI co. of all blame, and to place that blame for rising premium costs on President Obama, you're, in effect, saying that you believe the PPACA is socialized medicine - the exact same thing Rightwingers across the country have been saying to their gullible sheep.
Liberals know better.

(12,287 posts)and left it at that. Should have said "if you like your employer based insurance, there will be no change." or "those of you with employer based or govenment insurance, there will be no change" But then I'm guessing that those who have those plans like Walmart gives their employees (where you pay $40. a month, but it only cover up to $1000. a year) are likely not good enough to be allowed.
