Like it says on the graphic above:
Libertarians want to reduce government spending (on food stamps and the social safety net and NASA)
Reduce Taxes (for the super rich),
Reduce Debt (on the backs of the poor)
Reduce Regulations (like the kind that keeps rivers from catching fire or worker safety or one's that would stop banks from crashing the economy)
Stop Foreign Meddling
And Stop Invasions of Personal Freedom
So Vote Libertarian party. (the american version. not the ones that are socialists)
You'll be a sick and destitute wage slave but at least marijuana and same sex marriage will be legal.
(though it seems i can still get those last two by voting liberal and still keep a social safety net)

It's less about the real guy, who, was, for all points and purposes, a terrorist.
But, the movie version was a crusader against despotism.

(26,117 posts)Sarcasm isn't always apparent in writing (and the poster could have formatted the post to make his own comments more obvious).
...and I prefer "marriage equality" to "same sex marriage," but I think the poster meant well.

(53,921 posts)Amazing the number of Kreskins on the board. I should really see if I can get this week's lottery numbers. I know I have had some sarcastic posts fall flat because written, as you said, is more difficult to convey properly (like my hyperbolic sarcasm in the above post). Normally, I don't give a shit, but I made an honest mistake and I don't like being called stupid.
And yes, I prefer "marriage equality." BTW, did you see the video in V&M about the kid's responses to "gay marriage?" It is really cute.

Thanks again, it was much needed.

I don't see any "bad" sarcasm here.. Did you not bother to read the whole thing? Or did you think the OP really espoused being a wage slave?
You know you were anonymous until you answered my post.
Behind the Aegis
(53,921 posts)See, that is sarcasm.
There have been more than a few posters at this site who use that type of "sarcasm" to espouse their views while making fun of actual liberal views. Usually, I have other posts to read to gage which kind it is. So I made a mistake. How sad my mistake resulted in the OP being hidden. Oh wait. It didn't.
ETA: I also didn't like the dismissive use of marriage equality. That's what I get for serving on jury when I first wake up.

(4,876 posts)Now you are "defending" yourself. This is pointless. You made an ass out of yourself. There was no need to take it out on me.
Have a great day.

(53,921 posts)That is why I am defending myself against your remarks. Your nasty personal attacks are why I responded.
ETA: I even said in the post to which you responded, that I made a mistake and still you felt the need for a nasty personal attack.

(10,893 posts)than I do of normal Republicans. With Libertarians, they always claim to be for the Constitution and individual "freedom", yet are simultaneously either being silent on--or supporting voter ID laws, anti-choice laws, and various impediments to gay rights. Rand Paul, for example, not only stumped for anti-choice VA gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccineli, but he came out in support of the voter ID laws when he was asked at Howard University, and his father has been opposed to the right to choose and the right of gays to marry. How is that championing freedom?
They may as well rename themselves from the "Libertarian Party" to the "States Rights Party", because that's the only type of freedom they support--tyranny on a State level, rather than nationally. They're actually OK with things like the Drug War being waged, if its done by individual states. Notice that they've never mentioned a federal law that completely legalizes weed or other drugs.
