Our Message to Leslie Moonvees, President & CEO of CBS News

To Leslie Moonvees, President & CEO of CBS News:

Please run a follow-up to your October 28 story on Dianne Barrette's experience with Obamacare, which has been debunked by several other news outlets.

To quote Consumer Reports, Barrette's current health insurance policy was “a textbook example of a junk plan that isn’t real health insurance at all.” Further, she now qualifies for subsidies under Obamacare that will help her buy much better insurance at low cost.

She even now says that “maybe the law is a blessing in disguise.”

Please correct your misleading story by running a follow-up on Dianne Barrette's experience with Obamacare.

Obamacare 'rate shock' victim changes her mind, calls the law a 'blessing in disguise'

Dianne Barrette, the 57-year-old Florida realtor who was paying $54 a month for a Blue Cross insurance plan that got cancelled quickly became the poster person for the "Obamacare is taking my insurance away!" campaign after CBS News ran her story, and almost just as quickly became the face of debunked Obamacare stories when Fox News' (!!!) Greta Van Susteren poked it full of holes. It's been a useful story for plenty of journalists—Erik Wemple of the Washington Post, and Nancy Metcalf of Consumer Reports—to explore what's really going on with Obamacare, "rate shock," and people losing their junk insurance. ......
