Put <insert name of your favorite progressive radio personality here> on AFRN and STOP

bullshitting people with the notion that we as progressives should be able to decide what American Servicemembers can listen to.

Put Eddie on the AFRN either before or after Fatbaugh... Let the people we choose to put in harm's way decide for themselves.

Problem solved.

Female Veterans Demand Rush Limbaugh’s Show Be Pulled From American Forces Network

Seriously, fuck Limbaugh, he's a scumbag, and anyone who want to sit and listen to this (http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002382940) has issues.

And I chafe at the notion that speech offensive to some should not be allowed to see the light of day.

Don't like what he says? Neither do I. But I, as a Veteran of the Armed Forces of the United States, was (and am) willing to fight to the death for his right to say it.

Don't like what he says? Be willing to fight to the death for an opposing view. Let those who would listen decide for themselves what they want to hear.

Balance offensive speech with speech you approve of.

I thought that was what democracy was founded on.

Am I wrong?

He can speak freely all day to the hand, just not on the public airwaves and not with taxpayer dollars.

I, as a Veteran of the Armed Forces of the United States, believe he's a pimple on the ass of uncivil discourse.

If the RW were interesting in fair and balanced, they wouldn't unleash the likes of Limbaugh on the public, defend and protect him in his assault on private citizens. Other radio personalities have been removed from the airwaves. They protect Limbaugh because he's like the slime of Fox Noise on steroids, spewing the most hateful and vile attacks ever!

The RW killed the Fairness Doctrine. Discuss that with them.

I'm afraid I don't see the distinctions you're trying to draw...

By "public airwaves", you mean to say that in YOUR United States, there are places where unpopular speech is NOT allowed, right?

"Other radio personalities have been removed from the airwaves." Is that to say they didn't garner a large enough audience for their stations to be able garner sponsors? After all, isn't SPONSORSHIP what gets and KEEPS people on the "public" airwaves?

"They". In the context of radio on the public airwaves, "they" means sponsors, right?

"He can speak freely all day to the hand." The hand being YOUR hand, turning the dial to a station that he's NOT speaking on. YOU'RE trying to put your hand in between his voice the the ears of those who would listen to him, and THAT'S what I take issue with. You don't agree with his message, so you'd somehow limit its exposure to the light of day.

I don't get that.

...the way you want to look at it, yes.

You know, if Limbaugh's sponsors drop him, he'll be gone too.

Hand, wall, anywhere but on public airwaves. Do you "agree with his message"? http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002382940

I mean, his "message" is hate, perversion, racism and sexism. Maybe we can give David Duke and the guys at Stormfront some free airtime. Who else?

Freedom of speech doesn't mean you get to pollute the public airwaves, it simply means that you can say whatever you want to. It's not a right to a venue. Do you think a program in which the host calls you (yes you) a "slut" and "prostitute" over and over should be allowed on the air?

Edited for clarity.

say an anti-female point of view, maybe that would be fair. But that is not the real problem with Limbaugh. The problem with Limbaugh is that he lied, lied big-time, just to make a cheap point.

Specifically he lied about what Sandra Fluke said in her testimony -- and he has not apologized for that lie.

Sandra Fluke NEVER discussed her sex life, never said she was having sex with anyone and did not discuss the sex life of her fellow students at Georgetown. Limbaugh's claim to the contrary was not a joke, it was not a mistake. It was a lie, very simply, a lie.
