My belief is that no big name Democrat showed up to support Buono

because they didn't want to appear to lose some sort of proxy war to Christie. Buono would still have lost, though likely with a smaller margin and the narrative for the media would be that "Obama/Clinton/some-other-important-Democrat loses to Christie in 2016"

To that degree even if I don't approve of it, I understand why they stayed away from this.

Vietnam Draft dodging DLCers probably wouldn't understand the irony.

But remember. Ours is not to question the strange behavior of our leaders, our's is to work to protect, defend, and advance them.

on edit: This is what happens when cannibalistic orientation to party resources drives decision making.

with Christie. I think it was the last time he met with him and she was standing not too far away. Really ticked me off.

this made it less likely Christie will be the RNC nominee.

If the Democrats had wanted to guarantee that Christie was the GOP nominee, they would have run Obama, Biden, Big Dog, Hillary, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi in there every weekend.

Then Chris Christie would be the Rethugs' champion who slew all the liberal dragons at once.

How does Obama make it less likely that Christie will be the nominee?

The guy was polling too well to catch. He had huge money and national press. Absent video of him abusing a farm animal, he was going to cruise to reelection.

She had to realize she was going to lose--her purpose (which I guess she just didn't understand) was to draw him out, to force him to say stupid shit on camera, to lose his temper, to make him look "less Presidential."

Instead, by playing the Poor Sport at the end of the rout, she basically put a few nails in her own coffin. No one likes a whiner. Ya suck it up, and ya move forward. Happy warrior, a la Humphrey--that's how you play it. I guess no one gave her the Guide Book or something.

Had she done strategic damage to the behemoth, and kept her sense of humor, she'd be in a better position than she is now. She's in the "sore loser" box with her "concession complaints." Very ill advised, that business. Always make it about the OTHER guy--never yourself!!!
