Idaho high school basketball coach Laraine Cook fired after posting Facebook photo of boyfriend grabbing breast

An Idaho high school fired its girls' basketball coach last week for posting a picture of her boyfriend grabbing her breast to her Facebook account while on vacation.

Laraine Cook was canned last week by Pocatello High School, just after a hardly-racy, can-grab photo was put out on the social media site.

The photo featured her in a bikini in front of a large body of water with boyfriend and Pocatello football coach Tom Harrison holding Cook's right breast with his left hand. The shot was reportedly taken on a recent vacation. (An unidentified person is also seen in the background of the photo.)

The highly-decorated football coach wasn't flagged for holding, however, as he was only "reprimanded" according to reports.

Ridiculous grounds for firing someone (if that was the only reason) but not good proof of a double standard.

What should he be fired for? Being "only" reprimanded for touching one's fiancee seems over the top.

her posting the photo with her fiance having no connection to the school, I could understand firing- I would disagree but understand it.

But as they both work for the school, he is the initiator of the "offensive" action, he receives the lesser punishment and the school will not explain what the cause for firing is... I can only assume that they like winning football championships too much to fire both of them, but reprimanding each was not enough for some reason.

There are lots of actions that one can take that in and of themselves are not offensive but that are not appropriate for posting on FB.

is not offensive, then the photo should be a non-issue and no punishment for anyone.

If it is offensive and the male grabbing said boobie receives a lesser punishment than the female who posted the picture, it sends a message to the students about what is and is not acceptable, based on gender.

she's the initiator of the action that demonstrates bad judgment- thinking it was OK to post it. Having said that, I think firing her is absurd.

That way, no one can see your photos.

I really hate how people are getting fired from their jobs for things they've posted on facebook. If it's done outside of work away from the place you work on your own time, then it should never be a big deal to the employer.
