With SUPER BOWL XLVIII (48) coming up in early 2014 I'm wondering if there will be a SB 50?

I think football will be around another couple of years but it will be well on it's way or gone for SB 60.

Name changes and locker room won't do it. Brain injuries will cause drastic changes that will replace football as we know it.

IMO

it does seem to be a very brutal sport. Perhaps it will be modified. flag football rather than Liberal_in_LA Nov 2013 #1

But the idea the NFL will be gone in a couple of years is, in a word, ridiculous.

as others said there is too much money to be made . so far we know what happens but there isn't much being done to deal with it.

There will be rule changes, as usual. But suggesting that the game is on it's way out is silly. And wondering whether or not there will be a Superbowl 50 implies a serious disconnect from reality.

1. Money

2. People actually watch for the brutality factor. Sure the vast majority don't want to see any serious injuries, but the physicality of football is why many do watch.

Besides these men know the risks and are compensated very well for it.

with the NFL only playing about 8 games a year. Great couple of weekends but for cash strapped cities not so good.

16 game season= 8 home games a year. Plus playoff games.

Everything from concerts to job fairs.

Cities need a big venue for such things anyhow, and a well designed facility in a reasonable location should be booked nearly solid.
