Better to just stop watching him, let his ratings tank, and let MSNBC pull his show. Then he can go to Faux where he belongs.

I don't watch him, it's a bad way to start the day.

MSNBC should give Joy Reid a morning show--she's more intelligent and is certainly more progressive.

Anger is the loss of control over yourself, while wanting/trying to control something or someone else.
We have to beat them at their own game.

But to do that, we can't let them control us emotionally.

Sun Nov 10, 2013, 02:28 PM
Nov 2013

Your comment assumes that the OP isn't doing anything. Why not just let a little harmless venting go on by?

I could be wrong, but I feel that comments like your first reply are a lot more about YOUR ego than about the OP's comment.

58. That's one interpretation...
Sun Nov 10, 2013, 02:49 PM
Nov 2013

but just as you point out that I made an assumption about the OP,
you have also made an assumption about my motivations.

I merely tried to offer some advice. Helpful or not, it could have been
ignored or accepted as it stood. Instead, you've chosen to act as "hall monitor"
just as you've accused me of.

As to ego, everyone has an ego, without exception. Your ego prompted to to
post a reprimand to a post that, for whatever reason, offends your ego.
Perhaps you think I am pompous or attempting to appear wise for the sake
of appearance. Whatever the reason, you acted in a manner your ego dictated.

Whatever your motivations, I assure you, mine were merely an attempt
to be helpful and community minded.

I seem to have riled you, and for that, I apologize.

I am not particularly 'riled'. And I am not the only one who took your post as hall monitor-y.

But point taken on the hall monitor thing. Maybe I feel like it is equally community minded to allow people to vent when their post is obviously not intended to be taken literally, but if you want to offer sage advice to every person who makes an offhand comment here that is certainly your business. You are going to probably need to quit your day job, though.

There's not enough time in a day to offer advice every time someone comments. That and, well, I certainly don't have a corner on advice (Though I don't know how sagely it is... well intentioned, certainly... but sagely? I'd say the jury is still out on that one ). We get tons of it on this site. Some good, some bad. I just comment when something catches my attention for whatever reason. Sometimes its well received (which is something I think we all hope for) and sometimes not. I think, perhaps, this time was a swing and a miss for me. No harm no foul.

And I totally understand your point of view. There is definitely something to be said for getting something off your chest.
Though I will say this in my defense; words on a blog or forum are generally a poor communicator of a person's intent... I mean, after all, its what, 83% of communication that is non-verbal? Text on a screen leaves an awful lot to personal interpretation.

In any case, I think I'll keep my day-job

Instead of pissing and moaning on this site about Joe send a letter to MSNBC telling them why you don't and won't watch Morning Joe. That's what I did, no response but if 50 people do likewise within the next week, there may be trouble for Joe. I can't deal with his rudeness and waited many months for someone to walk off the set after being interrupted too many times.
