(203 posts)I may question the need for some of our military actions but in my opinion those who decide to serve the country are truly outstanding people. One day I hope to see the end of the need for military intervention, but until then I salute each and every one of you past, present and future. Thank you.

(17,656 posts)Indeed, the veterans of our country deserve everything we can do to help them when they get done serving our country in the military.
The kids today really need our help.
More veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars have committed suicide than were killed in both of those wars combined!
22 veterans a day commit suicide, 1 every 65 minutes!
It's a national disgrace that we can't do more for them to prevent them from giving up hope and cashing it in.
Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
