Oh this veterans day i think about 3 very important people to me
The first being my father whom I've watched freak out, cry, and in general just have breakdowns that last for days whenever he has dreams about his time in Vietnam.
The second was my cousin who killed himself 6 months after coming back from Iraq
The third was my best friend in high school who died 1 week after arriving in Iraq.
Supposedly i should wish their comrades a happy day today but what's so happy for them. They got to go through hell just to come back to a country where people are willing to take away whatever safety net there is and make them homeless
Just seems hollow to me. Come enjoy a free dinner at whatever chappy restaurant chain come take advantage of our sales. But don't ask us to take better care of you so sometimes I feel when I wish anyone a happy veterans day it's kinda hollow
