How soon after a car accident does the police take a breatherlyzer and release it to the public?

A local elected official was involved in a roll over which had an earlier call in for reckless driving. He's now in the hospital with head injuries. I was just wondering if they were going to treat him the same as they would any ordinary individual.

I would imagine there would be a blood test taken at the hospital theHandpuppet Nov 2013 #1
Taking the blood test is pretty automatic after an accident I should think. dixiegrrrrl Nov 2013 #2

If so, those results wouldn't be released unless charges are filed. At least, that's my understanding of it.

Releasing the results to the public might depend on a lot of factors...if the driver gets charged, if the driver goes to court,
etc.
Usually any proveable drunk driving would be reported as a DUI, but not the exact alcohol level reading.
Plus, alcohol leaves the body at the rate of 1 oz per hour,
and
usually a test in the case of an accident would happen an hour or 2 later at the hospital,
depending on what kind of medical care the guy needed.
So the level would be somewhat lower than if it had been taken at time of accident.
