Richard Cohen (WP): people with conventional views have gag reflex at Di Blasio's family.

Hard to interpret this comment in his column about the GOP otherwise than racist.

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/wtf-richard-cohen

What the hell is wrong with Richard Cohen? In the course of sorta explaining the GOP's problem with race, Cohen notes that "people with conventional views must repress a gag reflex when considering the mayor-elect of New York — a white man married to a black woman and with two biracial children."

Say 1800, 1850, 1880, 1900, 1920, 1950, 1960, 1980, 2000, 2013 America. Richard Cohen's convention is to make money from the segment that maintains bigotry that persist today. Journalism has definitely deteriorated.

And this person's name sounds familiar:

Here was my original comment:

If you subtract that paragraph the rest of the column makes sense. In my opinion it's just an edit-fail, nothing more sinister.

And to which I responded:

An "edit fail" is it? Gee, that sounds rather akin to the ever-popular "I misspoke," or the immortal, "mistakes were made."

Which is a neat reminder - Americnas get offended when you call out a mixed-race couple... and that's good, that's definitely good that an asshole doing that earns our ire.

But supporting the massacre a few hundred thousand Arabs and leaving their country a smoking ruin because the then-president's large intestine says so? Apparently that doesn't hamper your journalistic credibility at all.

Yes, plenty of evidence, but this one is very extreme, particularly because of the use of the world conventional.

I'm almost scared to go shoppin there since they raised the speed limit from 7 mph to 12 mph, cuz all them young idjits drive all careless and scarin the horses. Crazy people's all runnin about talkin excited about flyin thru the air like birds. And some thinks wimmin oughta be able vote. Just cain't imagine what'll become of this country -- back in the old days, when we found a good empty piece of land, with nobody livin on it, we just chased the injuns off and started farmin. What's wrong with everbody now?
