It is most definitely a republican nightmare - a woman and a black man on the same ticket.
I can see Glenn Becks head exploding now...
Warrens appeal to the struggling middle class/working poor plus Bookers being able to first hand expose someone like Chris Christie for what he really is seems an unbeatable combination to me.

(31,798 posts)Warren yes - Booker no. I voted for Booker ONLY because he had a D after his name - NOT because we shared a common belief in America.
Pallone or Holt (also rans) would be a much better complement to Warren than Booker. He's very corporate and got a lot of his campaign money from Wall Street.

(4,734 posts)you are correct. Wish it weren't so.
Was reading about the Christie/Booker "bromance"
Still, the heat of a campaign could change that... maybe???

(31,798 posts)I think he's going to be a fine MODERATE Senator - but a leftist? No way. He's never going to be a Sherrod Brown.

(7,769 posts)Booker happily wasted NJ tax money for his own special election which helped Christie get re-elected in the general election a few weeks later.
Booker should have been in the general election to boost Dem turnout.
JustAnotherGen
(31,798 posts)Christie had ALL the power on that - and I want to say in 1924 (I can double check) the NJ Legislature laid down explicit rules that Christie did NOT have to hold that special election. Because of when Lautenberg died -and how close it was to the GE - it should have just gone on at the same time as the GE. But Christie had all the power on that one.

(6,336 posts)But he did not waste tax $$ on the special election, he was the candidate. As the mayor of Newark, he had no power to call a statewide special election.
Blame Christie on that one.
JustAnotherGen
(31,798 posts)And Christie didn't even HAVE to. After the Fed Gov voted to allow direct election of Senators - the NJ Legislature put rules in place to specifically NOT cause the outlay of money for an expensive special election.
Not a fan of Booker - but I'm not going to throw him under the bus when a perfectly good opportunity to throw the Guv'nah under the bus presents itself.

(4,734 posts)When I heard about Christie at the Koch bros meeting I realized what he really stands for. I want that jerk nowhere near the white house.

(4,734 posts)Bookers spot on a Warren ticket as balancing it out to appeal to more moderate party members.

(13,877 posts)and in recall, I'd guess by memory, that at least 75% was from corporate sources. There's a reason for that, other than it was well-known who would win from the git-go.
It's a reason we love to hate, the unmentionable, but "it" is spinach to Popeye, that which fuels the 20-21st century cartoon car we currently call Democracy.
An old saying: Get in or get out. If you get in, sit down, be quiet and hang on. My addendum ... if you decide to get out, don't lament over the fact you got left behind. If you're in, at least you may have some say in interpreting the road map.

(9,002 posts)I read that as Clinton/Booker.
With all of the Warren/Clinton threads lately I guess I'm just juxtaposing them.

(24,347 posts)Warren's made her bones on fighting big banks. Cory Booker's rolodex is FILLED with the phone numbers of the guys whose asses she kicked in all those hearings. It would not work out well.

Plenty of good progressives out there.

(53,764 posts)Booker is more corporate/Wall St. dem.
Be careful what you wish for.
Remember during the 2012 campaign he was banished from presidential surrogate ranks for going on the air in favor of private equity firms like Romney's.
Because he got a lot of backing from those type of companies.
