It's been a few days. And I don't mean "resign" either. I mean *FIRED*

(30,439 posts)She was fired while Dan Rather was allowed to stay at CBS.
This proves how liberal the media really is.

(75,480 posts)However, in the future, look for her contract not to be renewed. In the meantime, you will see her on the air with fluff pieces only.
To fire her would mean that CBS is admitting that they made a colossal mistake with her and I don't think they want that. I hope I'm wrong because she should be fired.

(8,377 posts)That seems like a perfect gig for this lightweight. But seriously, since when has 60 minutes had any credibility? It has always just been a hatchet program with Mike Wallace just trying to sneak up on people.

They aren't afraid of us like they were with the right wing nuts during Rather.
I haven't heard of any investigation panel either like there was with Rather. That would be the least that they can do. (of course it would need to be packed with liberals like they packed the board for Rather)
Who are their sponsors? We should boycott them. I've been boycotting the show since they fired Rather.

(51,511 posts)I think that pretty much explains this whole episode, starting with their decision to run an unbelievable story by a mercenary that they did not even check out with the FBI first.

(37,154 posts)To them he was the premier example of "liberal bias in the press", and the guy they most point to about losing Vietnam due to a "backstabbing press".
In 1985 Jesse Helms promoted the idea of conservatives buying CBS just to be Dan Rather's boss:
" If each conservative) shifts enough of his or her savings or investments to buy just 20 shares of CBS stock, we would have enough votes to end CBS's bias forever....(CBS is) the most anti-Reagan network....It's vital for us to put an end to media bias....FIM (Fairness in Media) is counting on you to become Dan Rather's boss--by switching a portion of your investments to CBS stock. I am not giving economic or investment advice. The sole reason for this effort is to end bias at CBS Inc. You can buy stock in CBS by finding a stockbroker. They are listed in the Yellow Pages."
--Excerpts from the letter by Jesse Helms, January 21, 1985.
That's why Rather was treated differently. Conservatives passionately wanted his head mounted on a pike, and they finally had the excuse to get it.

It sounds like a rhetorical question, but I'd really like to hear an answer - if there is one.

(80 posts)a. Fire Lara Logan and bring some credibility back to their news programs.
b. Let her stay and make an implied statement that credibility is not important to them and any future "exclusives" should be considered fiction.
