Oh, shoot. Another celebrity I used to like has given in to the Dark Side.

R. Lee Ermey.

NRA's R. Lee Ermey Attacks Public Assistance Recipients: "Lazy Is Our New Cripple"

National Rifle Association board member R. Lee Ermey, best known for his drill sergeant role in the film Full Metal Jacket, claimed that "nowadays lazy is our new cripple" to attack recipients of public assistance during an NRA News special celebrating Veterans Day.

The November 11 holiday honored individuals who served in the United States Armed Forces. As Think Progress notes, "there are roughly 5.5 million disabled American vets and over 3 million receiving disability compensation."

Neither one is bright enough to write a grocery list, let alone a book.

He showed up at my squadron homecoming at MCAS Miramar when we returned from Iraq in 2004, he shook hands and posed for pictures and was very outspoken against Democratic party politics and leaders. He is a funny guy, and I appreciate the charity work that he does, but he is a big-time right winger.

Yeah, it's work. The budget is so tight it also includes a helping of hunger. Lazy people don't survive.

They go into acting or run for office.

12. Yup! When I want to find out something, I listen to celebrities.

They are famous because I see them on my televisionary set all the time. When I rent some entertainment from my local video rental, they're all there, too.

And the televisionary comedies even give me audio cues so I know which lines the actors speak are meant to be humorous. How generous of them. Because nobody would know something was funny without people guffawing -- and no doubt elbowing you in the belly.

Celebrities are famous because they are famous and for no other reason.

13. The irony is that Ermey, by his own admission, comes from a family of Democrats

I read an interview in an old gun magazine where Ermey said he and his family parted political company over Vietnam. As a Marine, he spent 14 months in Vietnam and two tours of duty on Okinawa until his injuries finally caught up with him, resulting in a medical discharge. But he's been a political conservative for as long as I can remember, which should make Thanksgiving dinners at home somewhat interesting.

He's a far right loudmouth who attack Barack Obama in 2011 so strongly that he lost his endorsement gig with Geico.
