(14,157 posts)There is a like 45 days every year to shop plans. I look at the different plans and sometimes I don't make a decision unit a couple hours before the deadline. Many people will be doing this with healthcare.gov and the state websites. It's called shopping, and Americans are good at that.

(19,877 posts)Seems most would wait closer to the deadline being choosing. Hopefully the website is fully functional by then.

(63,882 posts)We've been learning stuff as we go along. For instance, I need less coverage than he does but the plans offer a better deal if each partner have different health insurance needs. Since we are on Medicare as our primary care insurance provider, it may be a bit different...

(10,942 posts)in big numbers all the way through December. The December numbers should come out massive. Word of mouth should make November numbers big also, in particular once people see that website problems are being fixed and they can migrate the ACA site without tearing their hair out.

(5,417 posts)The numbers were about 1/5th of the White House projected october should be.
I would not consider that a success.

(10,942 posts)106,000+ have already signed up. The numbers imply big success, in particular the government has until something like the end of the first quarter on next year to get to it's 7 million target. The already have 1,500,000+ quality queries or outright sign-ups is 21% of the ultimate goal during the first month with the website having enormous problems. I would only sys there is concern if the November numbers don't match or exceed the October numbers.

(7,318 posts)Something is wrong somewhere. I think the higher figure is for those who signed up on the state run sites.

(18,402 posts)You can't separate out the states. There really wasn't supposed to be much of a federal exchange--but 36 Republican states decided they didn't feel like operating their own exchanges. The numbers in the OP correspond to what was reported today in the Washington Post, with a bit more detail:
2. It's not quite right to say 106,856 have actually bought a plan. The White House is also counting people who have placed a plan in their shopping cart but haven't yet paid.
3. Ten percent of people who have been determined eligible to enroll have actually done so. The rate is higher in state-based marketplaces (21 percent) than in those run by the federal government (4 percent).
4. About 75 percent of the sign-ups come from the 14 state-based marketplaces. Those marketplaces have had about 79,000 people sign up, compared with the 27,000 people who have purchased coverage in the federal marketplace.
5. California's enrollment accounts for a full third of all sign-ups. The state has had just over 35,000 people sign up.

(10,942 posts)the federal site. The goal is 7 million sign-ups from ALL sign-up points, the government is at 21% of that number in just 1 month, with something like 5 months to go.

(50,130 posts)I think they said only 46,000 people have signed up.

(32,723 posts)Then they claim "Obamacare" IS "The Exchanges".
They claim qualifying for Medicaid takes away from "Obamacare".
Next up: They will claim "Obamacare" is a failure because it's not making Obama a fortune.

(9,865 posts)...all over the news including NPR. The number they are using is 50,000! That's right. Fifty Thousand. I so hope your figures are the right ones.

(13,877 posts)states. There is plenty of time before 2014 elections to hear a direct story from someone known that it has helped...not the media...and to begin to question their own regressive politicians.
