Well it looks like another Fox News hoax has worked - dropped coverage

Morning Joe was on at gym while I was getting dressed. There was a Congressman (missed his name Hogge? and no party was mentioned) and even Robert Gibbs was saying that the White House needs to come out today and support Landreaux's bill.

The fact that these were crap insurance policies that no longer ARE policies because of the LAW was never mentioned that I heard. Gibbs did mention that this would not be an issue if the website worked better (actual health coverage would be available and people could see how bad their old policy was) but no one dared say anything about the Repub Gov.'s who dumped people into this situation.

Once again Fox makes something up, "catapults the propaganda", and the lazy corporate press talks themselves (and the public) into it.

Sad and embarrassing.

Dem, in his right mind, goes anywhere near healthcare. That's what's so disappointing about the criticisms coming from the left. Instead of pushing to make ACA better, some of our wimps are backing away completely. That's just sad & pathetic.

democrats.

If the ACA fails, we all fail. That's how I look at it! I can't believe these people are jumping ship like this when they were willing to work with Bush on Medicare D.

Most of the time the insurance companies canceled policies because that's how they get you up to a higher price. And the insurance companies love the fact that in many markets they can double their prices with exchange-based policies and the government will pick up the tab for that price hike. This is potentially a hundred billion of direct transfers from the taxpayers straight to the insurance companies.

That's why they are cancelling. And saying that they don't really have to won't change anything.

Allow a one-year moratorium on the policies that were in effect as of 9/1/2013, as long as the price is no more than 5% higher than last year. That will call the Republicans' bluff. It won't hurt us to have those policies run for a year while we are working to get UNINSURED people enrolled this year. We can gather up the junk policies next year.

However, part of this provision should be a very rigorous disclosure. The insurance companies should have to make a very clear disclosure that shows the deficiencies of the junk policies they are extending, and tis disclosure should make it very clear that better deals may be available TODAY on the exchange, with instructions on how to to that.

He announced essentially the same thing one hour after I posted this. Maybe I will send him a political consulting bill.

This is smart. He is doing it as a "suspension of enforcement" which is essentially the same tactical trick he used to temporarily get around the Dream Act obstruction without having to get legislation passed.

In the end, we will find that the insurance companies won't go along because Obama is requiring them to tell the truth to their customers, and that is the last thing they want to do. But this is a shrewd political move that puts the spotlight back on the insurance companies, where it belongs.

They permitted insurance companies to increase rates over the past three years. We have a very expensive policy that we have been arm twisted into for years due to pre-existing conditions. Three weeks ago we got the letter that ACA is forcing the company to cancel our policy. No, the company refuses to comply with the law, that is why my policy is being canceled.

MSM has been misleading the public and people are too stupid to find the facts. Go figure.

This company actually said that if I paid them an extra $300 dollars a month and signed to renew my policy four months before the anniversary date that I could keep my policy through 2014. Basically it was a ransom note. These people are crooks!

I got a letter from Anthem that was just as your described, except that my increase was "only" about $40/month. I did agree to their ransom to lock in my options, but I am planning to cancel it and switch to an ACA policy from a different company. But I don't need to do that immediately, and I'd rather wait to see how some of this plays out first.

Last year I had to raise the co-pay to $40 and the deductible doubled to $5000 per person in order to avoid a $1000.00 a month increase. As you know this whole media screech is a cruel joke. So many in our country are already on government health care that the majority do not understand what it is like out here for those who foot this inflated bill.

We will be out there looking with you...as soon as the dust settles! Keep on keeping on! : )
