Report: CBS' Benghazi Source Has "Disappeared" After Receiving "Threat"

Dylan Davies, the British security contractor at the heart of a CBS segment about the Benghazi attacks that was pulled following questions about his credibility, has "disappeared" after sending an email to his publisher detailing an alleged "threat," according to Daily Beast reporter Eli Lake, who obtained the email.

Lake previously received exclusive access to Davies, who apparently lied to the reporter in an attempt to control the damage to his credibility as his story unraveled.

...

In his November 14 article, headlined "Exclusive: Why Dylan Davies Disappeared," Lake writes that on November 8 -- the morning after CBS had pulled their report -- an executive at the publisher received an email from Davies. That email stated that Davies had received a threat to his family five days before -- the day after his interview with Lake was published -- and that while he stands by his story, due to the threat, he "will not discuss the book with anyone under any circumstances for the foreseeable future." Hours after Simon & Schuster reportedly received the email, they announced that they had withdrawn Davies' book from publication and recommended that bookstores take it off their shelves.

Lake writes that he confirmed with the South Wales police that an investigation into the alleged threat is underway. He also details how the facts of Davies' original account have been "called into question."

with the butt of a rifle?

Must be a diversionary tactic, so Dylan Davies can position himself to show the world again what a magnificent stud muffin he be.

Okay, my mother and I would sit up at night on the sofa and look at the Christmas tree with all the lights. We saw him sitting up like a person, unafraid, looking up at the lights, for few nights in a row.

My mother pointed out to me the way he was acting, it seemed natural to us. It was just one of those things, you know. He wasn't dirty or anything, just a little gray mouse that came in from the prairie.

Sadly, my brother, being practical or protective or whatever, put a mousetrap out and he met his end. I remember running to my mother the next morning yellling:

'Mother! He killed Mighty Mouse! He killed Mighty Mouse!'

And so it went. We were really into television in those days, got up and watched the test signal in the mornings, LOL.

before I fell head over heels for Bugs Bunny. My hero and role model, a very large influence in my single digit years.

My brother had to take on a lot of responsibility in the household. His ideas of nutrition were also shaped by television.

He bought us plenty of spinach (Popeye and all of that), Vitamin D whole milk (to prevent the rickets), fresh tomatoes (not sure why, but a good idea), Hershey's chocolate syrup and Mars candy bars, (since chocolate is one of the five food groups), Eggo Waffles (that I got very good at toasting and buttering for breakfast), but he burned the fried eggs (did his best, he did) and got us started on candy cigarettes (quite good).

Ah, yes, the consumer culture of the unwashed masses of the fifties. Then he joined the Air Force and never came back but always kept in touch.

From there our kid cuisine advanced to Swanson TV dinners when both parents were at work all the time.

Oh, and Delicious apples from Washington state.

It's a wonder I survived...

tee vee dinners!!!! We rarely got that kind of food, except when we were back in the land of the free, and when we did, it was such a treat! There was enough aluminum in that tray to do some light welding!

Those were some sturdy, rib-sticking meals...I remember one that was called something like swiss steak (it was glorified hamburger) and a fried chicken one that was probably filled with all sorts of additives, but it tasted good to my palate! And oh, that little dessert-y thing in the middle!

When there are too many kids (and there were, with us) that probably was a pricey option--cheaper to just give the little rugrats meat loaf and be done with it!

Is he worried the reporter might shoot him in the middle of the interview? Or is he just claiming there are threats as a convenient excuse to avoid the press and not have to answer any questions that might expose his lies further?

And that's been eviscerated already....

And he had to leave his home in south Wales? Hell, everyone knows everyone else in those villages; you can see a stranger coming a mile away (except maybe in summertime when the tourists come), and it is a four hour slog to London...he's safe as houses there!

He probably doesn't want to listen to the mocking of his neighbors, that's why he's shoved off.

They want him out of the public eye while this story is hot.

This entire 60 Minutes piece was a contrived political hit. Find out who orchestrated it, and
you'll find the people who have sent Davies to Bora Bora for a while--until things cool down.
