As a breast cancer survivor, I am beyond disgusted.
"A New Mexico woman has been banned from her daughters school because the principal is allegedly concerned about her smell, KOB-TV reported on Wednesday.
He just said he knows this is going to hurt my feelings and he understands where Im coming from, Kerri Mascareno explained to KOB. His mother had breast cancer and she had the same exact smell and I can no longer be in the school and that with me being in the school that I made his employees ill.
Mascareno, whose daughter attends Tierra Antigua Elementary in Albuquerque, was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in August, and is currently taking medication to shrink the tumor enough for it to be surgically removed. She told KOB that Tierra Antigua principal Robert Abney informed her she wasnt allowed on school grounds and, during the same conversation, asked her to sit inside her car because he could smell me through the window.
Abney refused to discuss the encounter with KOB, referring a reporter to Albuquerque Public Schools for comment..."

(2,252 posts)... ya know, Bob, we all die. Our bodies decay. As various diseases progressively kill us, they cause various transformations... with various olfactory consequences...in our physical beings. These changes don't necessarily reflect on our value as fellow human beings. In fact, these changes may provide an educational opportunity for understanding how death is an integral part of life.
Let me introduce you to the Order of the Good Death. Caitlin and I are alumni of the University of Chicago. Caitlin is a mortician. Please try to accept the "smell" of Kerri's cancer; someday soon, your friends and family may need to accept the smell of your corpse poo:
