Sometimes you can't believe everything you read

I've watched thread after thread pummeling Bill Clinton for saying people should be able to keep their insurance plans.

My thoughts were, well let's wait and see, this could be a trial balloon and cover for Obama, who is going to come out in a few days and say the same...

Well, that happened...

But what I didn't recognize was the genius of the political plan. The insurance companies are pissed off at this turn of events because they don't want to offer those stinky half assed cheapo plans. And they won't. Once these changes take place and people are told they can keep their plan if their insurance company will sell it to them (which they don't want to sell), the blame for it will be placed squarely on the shoulders of those evil greedy fucking insurance companies.

Oh and heat they will take. The blame for this will be placed exactly where it needs to be, on these greedy fuckers.

LOL...

1. Well, I agree that the insurance companies SHOULD take the blame.

that it wasn't ACA, Obama heard and listened to the American people, it's the insurance companies.

And the ins co's deserve this turnabout, because they helped to fuck it up on purpose.

3. Sure, and politically that argument makes perfect sense (to me, at least).

But will the media run with it, or will they play their ordinary role as a right-wing echo chamber and just echo the Republicans who blame Obama and the Democratic Party?

That is what remains to be seen.

Premiums roll in, but they damn near never pay out (by design).

It takes one person with a stamp that reads 'DENIED' and another person to deposit the checks.

The DU is not interested in hearing about how the high deductibles are going to effect those who don't have the money to pay them.

What's really important is that everyone pays the insurance companies the pound of flesh they are due.

11. What do you think the deductibles in the crap plans are like?

They're terrible, they exclude things like hospital stays, and have high co-pays.

But to the insurance companies? They're free money, since the plans are designed to pay out as little as possible.

9. The key aspect is that the cheapo plans require large volume.

By letting people keep these plans indefinitely, while also making it easier for them to shop for real plans, the number of people on these plans will drop fast.

Insurers were trying to up sell these fools quickly during the transition. Now, these folks can keep these weak plans, or change based on competition. The number of folks on these plans drop and they stop being profitable.

The insurers hate competition. They'd divided up the countries so that for most states, only one company offered any plans.

The other thing is that this tactic makes it harder for the media to complain. The media needs a simple story line, not one that becomes more complex over time. This one will get more complex and the media will move on.

Meanwhile, the number of people on the crap plans will drop fast, and ultimately go away. Which was the administrations goal from the start.
