Discuss: House Vote on Republican ACA "fix" Bill

I know nothing about it except that it is supposed to happen today (Friday)

I know that it is a bad bill, that some Dems might defect, and that there is a Pelosi sonsored fig-leaf Dem alternative labeled Landrieu-lite that pretty much echos what Obama said, but will (of course) not be voted on.

And that's about the extent of my knowledge.

I figured somebody might have something interesting to say on the topic.

1. Upton bill. Allows insurers to continue selling bad plans.

It is called KeepYourPlan but obviously does not do that. It does not force insurance companies to take customers back, but allows them to sell substandard contracts to whom they like (and to refuse other customers).

It will pass. The real question is to know how many Dems will vote on it. Less than 10 will be success for us.

White House Threatens Veto Of GOP's 'Keep Your Health Plan' Bill

The Obama administration threatened Thursday to veto the House Republican bill aimed at addressing the issue of canceled health plans that has taken over Washington in recent days.

"The Administration supports policies that allow people to keep the health plans that they have. But, policies that reverse the progress made to extend quality, affordable coverage to millions of uninsured, hardworking, middle class families are not the solution," read the official Statement of Administration Policy released by the Office of Management and Budget. "Rather than refighting old political battles to sabotage the health care law, the Congress should work with the Administration to improve the law and move forward."

The House bill would allow insurers to continue to sell existing policies outside the law's insurance marketplaces to anyone, including new customers, next year. A vote is expected Friday.

Already 40 voted for the bill.

So, we will have a few more days of this shit in the media.

There will always be Dems running scared, including the blue dogs.

7. 39 Dems voting YES is a lot. It makes the claim this is a bipartisan bill look plausible,

This is a mess and we could have avoided it.

A vote for the Upton bill is a vote for a step back toward people dying bankrupt after half-assed attempts at "care" and any "Democrat" that supported it should be primaried.
