PTSD Isn't Biblical, Televangelist Kenneth Copeland And Historian David Barton Tell Veterans

On a Veterans Day broadcast program, televangelist Kenneth Copeland and controversial historian David Barton told listeners that soldiers should never experience guilt or post-traumatic stress disorder after returning from military service.

Reading from Numbers 32: 20-22, Copeland said, “So this is a promise — if you do this thing, if you arm yourselves before the Lord for the war … you shall return, you’re coming back, and be guiltless before the Lord and before the nation.”

“Any of you suffering from PTSD right now, you listen to me,” Copeland said as Barton affirmed him. ”You get rid of that right now. You don’t take drugs to get rid of it. It doesn’t take psychology. That promise right there will get rid of it.”

Barton added that many biblical warriors “took so many people out in battle,” but did so in the name of God.

“You’re on an elevated platform up here. You’re a hero, you’re put in the faith hall of fame,” Barton said. “… When you do it God’s way, not only are you guiltless for having done that, you’re esteemed.”

WTF is wrong with them. Do they not understand that you don't just get PTSD from war? I think these two are in for some big time bad karma...I would recommend not standing too close to them..

are not really believers, for if they believed in a supreme being and and an afterlife, they wouldn't say and do the things they do. You would think that other Christians would criticize them more too, because they make a mockery of Christianity every time they open their mouths.

You can even detect PTSD on brain scans, because it causes changes to occur in the brain itself. What a pair of yahoos!

And guys who were fighting Nazis with no doubts about the righteousness of their actions still got PTSD, as do a lot of other people. And no, prayer does nothing. I've tried. What does work? Drugs.

split the Juneau in half in the aftermath of the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal. The tremendous explosion (the magazine was struck) and the speed with which it sank (it split in half and was beneath the waves in less than 20 seconds), left few believing there could have been survivors. Fearful there were more Japanese submarines on the hunt, the rest of ships sped away.

They would learn later over 100 men survived, only to die of exposure and shark attacks in the week before aircraft spotted the 10 men who survived. Ten out of 687.

My father was awarded the Silver Star for his actions in that battle. But he was haunted to the end both by what he did and what he wished he had done. Maybe Barton should shut the fuck up until he learns compassion and its consequences.
