At stores like Walmart and Kmart, I go to the book section and wherever I see displayed on a shelf books by idiots like Sarah Palin, Bill O'Rielly, Sean Hannity, etc., I place other books in front of them so anyone passing by doesn't see them.

(9,033 posts)And more than once I've gone and found that someone else had gotten there before me!
One person, just one person does it they may think he's really sick and
They won't take him. And if two people, two people do it, in harmony,
They may think they're both faggots and they won't take either of them.
And three people do it, three, can you imagine, three people walking in
Singin a bar of Alice's Restaurant and walking out. They may think it's an
Organization. And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day,I said
Fifty people a day walking in singin a bar of Alice's Restaurant and
Walking out. And friends they may thinks it's a movement.
Maybe it's a movement.
Edited to ask: I've been doing this in a couple of states since the late 90s? or so...can I ask where you live?

(4,276 posts)And this is EXACTLY the place to display it for all to see.
Doing these types of things is much less harmful than the effects of the diatribe published in these books. Chill out.

(8,377 posts)... that it is better that we take the "high road" and just let the lords reign over us.
My comments was a little sarcasm, as to how a "polite person" could deal with the situation. Those people never get anywhere. You can't take on the machine by being polite all the time.
I like the OP's idea of a little harmless disobedience. I might go so far as to print up some glossy stickers that look like they were part of the publisher's presentation. The stickers might read
"America's favorite half-term governor provides simplistic answers to complex problems."
Yes, it would be a crime if some of those stickers were to somehow end up on the books. So, that just means we need to be sneaky.

(55,981 posts)bunch and stick them the hell all over those books. Not that I would ever do such a thing. But dont forget the cameras are always watching.

(8,377 posts)are actually contractors stocking the shelves and not really Wal*Mart employees. Try asking one of them for help and they will give you a blank stare.
So it wouldn't actually be to hard for a person to dress in a way to look like the official book sticker contractor. These guys did it.
Or a person could put a bunch of the books in his shopping cart, and continue shopping in other parts of the store while discreetly applying the stickers, then return the books to the shelf before going through check-out.
But of course that wouldn't be nice.

this has come up when people have talked about filling shopping carts and then just leaving the store without buying anything . they think they are hurting the corporate execs but it's teh workers who get hurt by this more.

(17,671 posts)those employees may get paid by the hour but they have a long list of tasks they have to do in each hour. That list won't get any shorter because of partisan hijinks like yours.

Cashier: *pause then continues a little shakily* Actually, uh, what we uh, want you to do is take a small survey when checking out.
Me (Yelling): Sorry! I misunderstood!

(22,380 posts)All tall skinny woman with a clenched face had the "Killing Jesus" book by Bill O'Reilly in her purchases. Ordinarilyy I would have made a light hearted remark like: "Please let me know what you think, because I can't bring myself to read it for myself."
But uncharacteristically I refrained.
She scared the hell out of me.
