On Hawaii- Maybe the original Polynesians were a little darker but I think that it is generally confirmed that ancient Hawaiians came from Polynesia (Tahiti area) rather than Melanesia (Fiji area). I don't think I would call them black.

I guess I responded to this because I get really dark in the summer and I am supposedly from English stock arriving in Virginia in 1635. Life is a puzzle, ehh? Genealogy is fascinating to me just for the history you learn as you research.
