I wish I could offer an explanation for every photo (other than the obvious) but I don't know the process used on some of the photos.

6. To me, Winter's Dance has so much going for it.

Movement - indicating changing of season, storms, blown leaves, waving branches in the wind
Pattern - of the tree bark, the grey sky of winter - swirling clouds, of water, or snow, of blizzard

I could really look at this on my wall forever.

9 times out of 10 the finals provide surprises in their votes. It often seems just like what you are saying, folks looking at photos again and see brand new stuff.

I was so tempted to pick America, because it is so evocative of our global policies, but Winter's Dance looks like a Van Gogh and I just can't stop wanting to get caught up in that swirl. Nightmare on Buckeye Lane makes me feel like I'm in Lord of the Rings. Another one I just can't stop looking at.

They are all just stunning. Beautiful work everyone.

20. I don't vote for photoshop effects in photography contests. Anyone can do a twirl or smudge.

So, I voted for 'America?' for the metaphor.

appeals and doesn't appeal to people. I love doing abstract photos and my husband looks at me like I've lost my mind. He doesn't get it at all. He likes realistic photos.
