I would rather Reid and the Dems had forced filibusters to involve old-fashioned non-stop talking

rather than allow up-or-down votes on executive nominees with only 51 votes

If today's new rule had been operative in the Bush era, John Bolton would have been confirmed as our ambassador to the UN

Cruz's recent pointless talking filibuster cost the Repubs PR points -- and so would most other talking filibusters the Repubs would mount

that Reid was a goner -- but he sailed through just fine. Mebbe he does the right thing often. My concern is that this will bite us whenever the Rs next control both Oval Office and Senate: it helped us some during W's reign of error

Regarding the middle, I suppose Reid is more likely than I to know what's possible in the Senate: I merely stated my preferences

While they waste the Senate's time with a talking filibuster, Reid would be unable to move any other items on his agenda.

of the GOP are grumpy with Cruz for his stunt, which caused that party significant PR damage -- which they couldn't afford in an election year, even with all their gerrymandering
