Only someone from Faux news would "pretend" to be homeless, & pass on an ignorant message to viewers

What a turd,

"What did you do with the money you?"
John, "We donated it to a REAL Charity" "It wasn't that much"
Umm If he was really homeless, he would know $90 IS A FREAKIN' gold mine!
Hell I tempted

Stossel Pretends to be a homeless panhandler. Learns nothing. Blasts us for "enabling scammers."

Hat tip to Scott Keyes of Think Progress who had this to say:

I don’t throw around the term “hero” lightly, but it takes a special kind of person to look at a homeless man on the street — with no home to stay warm in, little access to a shower or clean clothes, and few possessions — and decide that he’s got it too good. But Fox Business host John Stossel bravely took up that mantle Thursday morning during a guest appearance on Fox & Friends, warning viewers about the perniciousness of giving money to the poor.
The things I have seen, that I wish I could share with this man.
I really wish I could sit down with Stossel and take him through some of the slum neighborhoods here in DC. I wish I could show him the things I've seen here. And I've only been here for four weeks. There are plenty of places in New York he could visit if he gave a damn.

I wish I could take him on a tour of the rural slums of Appalachia, to meet entire families living in almost total destitution, families who are proud when a family member manages to get a paying job at McDonalds, because she's the first one to get something quasi-permanent since the factory that employed their town closed down under Reagan.

I wish he could meet the woman I sat with, who local republicans expected to work until she died, who'd been a migrant farmworker her entire life. I wish he could see five generations of her family crammed into one room in a shotgun house. I wish he could see the extended families living in cramped apartments here in DC, or in NYC.

And I wish he could see what it's like, what it's actually like, for someone to lose everything, and have no support, no help, nothing.

I wish he could see how people treat the blue-outfitted Doe Fund workers, who clean up the mess left behind by drunk financial workers in the UES every morning, scrubbing vomit off the street, and collecting shards of broken bottles in front of swanky scotch bars and tapas joints.

But he's a libertarian. And I'm sure he'd respond with wilful, intentional ignorance.

The appalachian family should have followed the jobs, and left their town. Nevermind that the property they own there is literally the only thing they have, and previous generations literally worked themselves to death so that the family could afford to buy that tiny bit of property with its crumbling house.

that is an event planner for major Charities
I love my friend and i am happy for him making so much money, but it is because of him I would never give to a huge Charity or a Celebrity Charity.

Most of the money goes to pay for the parties and the promos to get the word out about the Charity and the people planning the parties and events.

I am not saying he doesn't work hard. but it's seems off to me that so much resources go to his salary and to the people in his office, when a small local charity can take the help straight to the people without a lot of fan fare.

And I can do with my money whatever I want. If I have it in my heart to give some money to someone I will do that. I am not going to lose sleep and wonder what that person did with my couple of bucks.

I mean I know they are not taking it to go make drones and drop bombs on innocent people. Unlike what happens with the money I HAVE to give to the Government, I know it will not end up in Government kick back for a wealthy turd who pays his employees slave wages and hoards money in the cayman islands. And I now it will not go to some asshat who's destroying the environment for progfit.

I would rather give directly to the Homeless than a Mega Church that tells people YOU MUST TITHE TO BE BLESSED!!!

... and I have cash, I give.

If I don't have cash, I give cigarettes, or anything I may have.

I don't give a fuck what they do with it. If they are in such dire straits that they are panhandling, then, hell, they deserve a drink to let them forget their misery for a few hours.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying to encourage it, but after I give them my money, it's theirs to do with as they see fit.

I have a few friends that play the "scammers" canard. Sure, I'll concede that they're may be a few, but the vast majority are people trying to get by. I'll take the odds and give.

People like Stossel are pieces of shit. They have to do hit pieces like this so that they can justify their greed. Fuck them. It actually enrages me to think about it. The amount of effort it takes to be selfish when they could just give instead. It takes nothing to give really. It takes a lot of effort to not give and then justify your actions so you can sleep at night.

Just fucking give and you'll be okay, John Stossel. And I'm not talking about the Central Park Conservancy, asshole.

much of his audience are self-processed Christians. That in mind, I have to wonder how harshly he would mock, demean, and dictate to his viewers that they should ridicule the subject, if he were to meet Jesus, today.

Modern, politicized conservative Christianity has become completely separated from the teachings of Jesus in the Gospels.

Once you GIVE it, it's none of your damned business what someone does with it. It's not yours, anymore. And, frankly, who are you to judge what someone else needs? Is your need for a new car any more important than an alcoholic's need for a drink, or a drug addict's need for a fix?
