As the nation mourns the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, conservative media figures have attempted to appropriate his legacy and attribute to the beloved former president their conservative ideas and positions. (31,981 posts)Kennedy was certainly no liberal as the word is now used. But he was an establishment Democrat and there is no doubt he would be one today if transported in a time machine. It is like trying to say what Lincoln, Washington or Jefferson would be. It is impossible. The country has changed and no one knows how those people would react if they saw modern America.
