The Obama administration will extend the deadline for people to sign up for health coverage that starts on Jan. 1, 2014, from Dec. 15, 2013, to Dec. 23, 2013, administration officials announced Friday.

How long did it take you?

(116,464 posts)Obamacare stories. Someone told me something negative could possibly maybe will happen so I'm going spread it around. I have no evidence, but it could possibly maybe will happen.
It's like the Koch brothers' latest attempt to create the impression that Obamacare created network system.
One could spend a lot of time debunking such claims (not that one specifically because one would have to be extremely gullible to believe it).

(11,589 posts)We've been collecting personal health care stories for years, illustrating the human need for health reform. Now that weve crossed the finish line, it's time to educate the public about health reform and how it will affect them. The best way to do that is to tell your story, giving a real example of the status quo and the impact of change.
Here are a few examples of the kinds of stories were collecting:
Individuals and small businesses who will purchase insurance on the exchanges.
People who have benefitted from premium tax credits.
Individuals and families who have benefited from in-person assistance.
Individuals who are impacted by the lack of a Medicaid expansion in their state.
Young adults who can now stay on their parents insurance.
Consumers who have pre-existing conditions or a child with pre-existing conditions who now have the opportunity to purchase insurance.
Insured consumers with high out-of-pocket costs or premiums.
Seniors who fall into the Medicare doughnut hole.
If you think any of the above describe you, or if you think youll be impacted by reform in another way, your story can go a long way in educating the public about reform. After we talk with you, you may have the opportunity to interview with a reporter, speak to or in front of elected officials, or share your story at an event. Of course, we will always talk with you before each opportunity, but the first step is to come forward.

(363 posts)but this is not from any right wing blog. A govt official only said that obamacare website can take about 34,000 applications per day.
I am not opposing obamacare. I support it and do like success stories too. However, i am big supporter of single payer system.

(26,366 posts)the point at which you've actually paid your first premium but as the administration is using it
it means the point at which you have signed up for your policy on the exchange not when you've
paid your first premium. As the article notes after you've signed up for a policy you have until
Dec 31st to pay the premium for your policy to begin Jan 1st.
"Consumers must pay their first premium by Dec. 31 for their coverage to begin on Jan. 1, Bataille said."
