Police: Man kidnaps own grandmother for drug debt

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Police said a West Linn man kidnapped his grandmother so she could help him pay off a debt to his drug dealer.
According to West Linn police, 24-year-old Bryce Altenhofen allegedly forced his 76-year-old grandmother into a car Thursday afternoon and drove her around to several banks so that she could withdraw cash.
A suspicious bank employee called 911, and officers arrived and arrested Altenhofen at an Albertsons store at 1855 Blankenship Rd. Officers found heroin on Altenhofen when he was taken into custody, West Linn police said.
Altenhofen’s grandmother was not hurt.
