Drunk driver who killed woman, had license revoked, charged again with DUI

Omar Kudra was hit by a Corvette traveling so fast that his scooter was fused into the hood of the sports car. The Canadian immigrant's body flew over the vehicle onto the crushing pavement as the driver kept going.

Witnesses identified the man stopped three blocks from the scene as the Corvette's driver, Steven Frank Mead, who never should have had a license when he hit 44-year-old Kudra.

Nearly 20 years earlier, Mead killed a woman while driving drunk in Orange County. At the time a successful businessman, Mead lost his house, his luxury possessions and his freedom after being convicted in the 1993 DUI manslaughter of 26-year-old Tiffany Ann Brown.

He also lost his driver's license. Forever. At least, on paper.

Now 50, Mead is once again vigorously fighting charges of being drunk behind the wheel when he hit Kudra in November 2011.
