Is it possible to manipulate the number of posts one has?

With hackers able to do some amazing things these days, I just wonder if it's possible for a poster here at DU to change their post count from just a few to several thousand?

You would need to hack the database and I don't see that happening.

It'd be easier to brute force it by posting 100s of "me too." +1 and n/t type posts a day. I've been here since nearly the beginning...I lost the log-on for my old account and don't remember what the account name was anymore even...and I've seen people pad 3-4K posts in a month doing that.

I don't know if it's still active, but I recall seeing a DUer or two in olden days get an embarrassing time-out for something like that joke...

There are some here who live for nothing but keeping track of what other DUers are doing.

I can't find my own damn posts half the time. I am always amazed at these people who can figure out the entire posting history of somebody and follow them posting contradictory opinions over multiple threads.

"Don't post malicious code or mess with the software.

Do not attempt to intentionally interfere with or exploit the operation of the Democratic Underground website or discussion forums (eg. by "post bombing" or using any other flooding techniques, by attempting to circumvent any restrictions placed on your account by the forum software, etc.) Do not post messages that contain software viruses, Trojan horses, worms, or any malware or computer code designed to disrupt, damage, or limit the functioning of any software or hardware."

Sounds like a good way to win a famed DU pizza...mmmmm
