The president announces that the United States and Iran are moving toward a deal to avert Iran gaining nuclear weapons without even bombing anyone, and what's the Republican response? Obviously, they don't like it. (See: not bombing anyone; possible historic success for Barack Obama.)
The most common Republican response was a mixture of (in translation) "it won't work because it involves diplomacy" with "it better not work because I'm not giving Obama credit for this thing." But a few were extra special:
Amazing what WH will do to distract attention from O-care
@JohnCornyn
Right, Obama participated in making nuclear war a little less likely in order to distract from some problems implementing his plan to get health coverage for millions of Americans. That's diabolical! Here's a thought experiment for you: What would Cornyn be saying if Obama suddenly decided to bomb Iran? Answer: He'd likely be accusing the president of trying to distract from Obamacare.
The Iran deal and our allies: You can't spell abandonment without OBAMA.
@AriFleischer
That's a very subtle, adult slam right there. And since neither Fleischer nor his old boss, George W. Bush, has a Q in his name, it's hard to respond in kind by saying something like "You can't spell 'too many people dead and too much money wasted in Iraq' without (PERSON'S NAME)." Darn. But of course one big reason the public is likely not to share in Republican outrage at Obama trying to use diplomacy is because, thanks to Bush, we're sick of wars and not eager to bomb any more Middle Eastern countries.
In short, Secretary of State John Kerry pretty much nailed it when he said "Gee, you mean the members of the other party are criticizing the president? I can't imagine that."

(2,397 posts)There is going to be the usual Wa-Po and NYT editorials--not to mention an article from Time--on how the administration has scored a major foreign policy victory. There is likely going to be a slew of writers out there--not to mention a BBC editorial--that will bestow kudos on this president, and the "white-wing" neocons will hate that. Seeing our first African-America President win praise for this accomplishment IN PRINT!
Seeing Obama make this historic foreign policy achievement in the paper is too much to handle for them. Why? Because it will likely drive up his poll ratings. They hate that too.
Hate, Hate, Hate.
Was the white-wing neo-cons pissed about some policy change with Cuba several months ago?
But is will be nice to have Rush Limp-butt blow a fuse on the air. Maybe he'll start to have health problems from "head exploding disease" and take his golden Mic and go home--permanently.
Same for Senator John McBush.

(1,151 posts)That Iran was a victim of a coup engineered and controlled by the CIA and the USA for the enrichment of BP. That Iran is a secular country. That Israel is never going to be happy unless they are standing with their foot on your neck. They are wholly owned by the Rothchild crime family. They are like the Vatican as a full voting member of the world because they own a country. They would like to own ours and maybe they do, but at least we can pretend to vote when they allow it.
This neocon crime began in 1951 , and they pushed for war with Iran in 1978.I remember John Macain singing 'bomb bomb bomb Iran ' so this was nothing new to W who could have had a great moment had he taken the offer in 03. But George wanted war. He wanted to be a war president. He did not care that other people would have to suffer and die. He was close friends with the criminals who allegedly perpetrated the 9-11 crime. What a coincidence that king Rothchild had a ringside seat to the whole affair. Just a coincidence I suppose.
But how long will it take for the world to stand up to to the USA and the CIA, and now the NSA. When will they draw a line in the sand? The NSA in what amounts to an act of war, has been caught red handed spying on everyone, infecting networks with malware is a crime. Its an international attack. We have been bullying smaller nations for 60 years its how we do things.
No one seems to understand that.

(8,084 posts)Our President is smart enough to skip the war part and go for the treaty.
Yep that's a terrible thing to do.
I have an Idea, you know how the fundies want to convert jews an send them to Israel to kickstart the end of the world.
What if we get Repugs to convert to mormanism and convience them to hope on a spaceship and find their home planet
