is that the pay increases are automatic unless congress votes to stop the raise. For presidents, the sitting president can say the pres needs a raise. He cannot benefit from that. The pres also can recommend that the ex president get a raise. So, Clinton said a presidential pay raise was in order. Bush benefitted from that. When Bush took office, he ecommended that the exes, like Clinton, get a raise. Great racket if you can get it, I guess.

Not sure why 4 times would be appropriate.

Perhaps we could peg it to how effective they are at improving the lot of 100% of Americans, not just their 1% buddies.

As many times as you see them dash home(full of energy), taking extended vacations, showing up late, leaving early, being no shows when they are supposed to be representing us and then accusing the minimum wage earners--the under employed that they are lazy and need another job!
