Former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain told a conference call of tea party activists on Sunday night that it was the liberal media that forced him out of the 2012 presidential race.
I am as broken hearted as others about having to pull out, Cain said, but I couldnt continue to try and run a race when you have a liberal media and others who did not want to see me succeed and to see us succeed constantly fighting false accusations.
Cain suspended his campaign for president following a series of news stories about women who accused him of harassment and infidelity dating back to the 1990s.
He made the comments as an introductory speaker on a tele-forum with activists associated with the Tea Party Patriots organization.

(23,664 posts)If Cain let the "liberal media" force him out of the race, he didn't have the courage to be president in the first place.

(25,699 posts)They will deride the media as "liberal" so long as it doesn't give a blanket self-censor to all bad news involving Republicans. That is, they want the independent media to be an arm of the republican party, and feel that this will secure and preserve its "independence"

(28,498 posts)And quite whining about the "liberal media." You and your GOP ilk need to accept your shortcomings and quite blaming someone else for your failings!
You were unacceptable...pure and simple.
Maybe you can find a leg to cry on?

Just imagine the unmitigated HUBRIS it takes to think that all these women would stay quiet, and that his mistress of 13 years would just stuff it up, be a good girl and continue to cover for him by staying quiet. Unreal.
(Reminder or for those who don't know: she went to the press because other people she knew were getting ready to leak it and she wanted to be able to tell it her way and thus better control the story.)

(5,763 posts)If she didn't divorce him after his second harassment suit, she' not going to do it now. He has the kind of personality that a person either believes him totally or doesn't believe him at all. He got to where he is by surrounding himself with the former, most especially in his personal life. And in that small cult-like group, he can do wrong. The reason why he's so dumb is that he's not used to being questioned by his coterie, and they're not used to asking him questions.
His wife would be his most dedicated cult member. The only way she'd divorce him is if she were away from him until the Stockholm Syndrome wears off. No joke, I swear, I think this is exactly what's happening.
And Repubs, a significant number of them, truly considered this guy for president!

But to the tea party idiots he was talking to they will buy his lie that a liberal
media made lawyers for the National Restaurant Associations pay off 2 women
for sexual harassment charges against Herm Cain. After which the Association
showed Herm the door.

(4,739 posts)It is not the fault of some nebulous "librul media" that you and other conservatives have manufactured in your sick heads to have something to fall back on when things don't go the way you want them. It is not the fault of the women you sexually harassed, nor of your mistresses. It is not Democrats, Progressives or whatever other scapegoat you want to run to when you don't want to sleep in the bed you have made for yourself (haha). So why don't you just review your party's little talking point about "personal responsibility" and take some yourself.

PS...sorry you dropped out of the race. Like a lot of other liberals, I'd have loved to see you go farther in this race and have your ass handed to you in the general election.

(2,485 posts)What we all should be doing is focusing on his competence to do the job. I would much rather have seen him step aside after the realisation that he's not competent to be the president. He's lucky he didn't get in the office and THEN find out what we already knew.
