General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWhen I was a little kid, I felt worse when an animal died in a movie than when a person died.
Then I grew up.
Do I still feel bad when animals die? Yes. But I also have sympathy for human beings when they die - that is, all human beings, not just those who I like or whose behavior I approve of.
So, a deer hunting comedian died. He was 50 years old - that's too young, and it's sad.

(13,460 posts)I love animals. Our dog is family. Most of my friends adore animals also, I guess that's why I enjoy their company.

(13,460 posts)It isn't actually political. It's one of those things that happens, sorry for his loved ones. But it doesn't affect any policies in any way, even regarding hunting.

(65,616 posts)Dying or trying to die. Human or other kind of animal, makes no difference. The struggle for life really gets to me. Growing up just drove the point home more.
Seeing a person stand over a 'trophy' kill makes me ill. Hunters hunting for food I could care less about, that is just nature. Most of us are lucky enough to live in a industrialized society that doesn't require us to hunt daily for our food.
I agree, 50 is way too young.

I wonder if all of them are vegatarians, bet not.

(17,528 posts)I gasped in horror at the poor horses...but several men had also been killed or blown up and I said nothing. And that's not when I was a kid...but today! I just can't stand when an animal is killed or mistreated. I'm ashamed to say when I saw a starving child in one of those ads to help children...I actually felt worse and wanted to donate when I saw a starving skin and bone dog. I've often wondered what's the matter with me that I seem to empathize more for animals than for humans.
