Beyond Ms. Logan, the review could have implications for the leadership of Jeff Fager, the chairman of CBS News, who is also the executive producer of “60 Minutes.” Mr. Fager sent an email to the staff Tuesday, saying: “As executive producer, I am responsible for what gets on the air. I pride myself in catching almost everything, but this deception got through and it shouldn’t have.”

Good. CBS had no problem getting rid of Mary Mapes, Josh Howard, Mary Murphy, and Betsy West back in 2005!

It is producing hit pieces with an agenda and passing it off as if it were real journalism. That's what 60 Minutes has been doing for decades, so what's the problem?

when does that start?

Those four producers that CBS had no problem getting rid of in short order, for the Shrub/National Guard story back in Sept of 2004... Mary Mapes, the story's producer; Josh Howard, executive producer of "60 Minutes Wednesday"; Howard's top deputy, Mary Murphy; and CBS News Senior Vice President Betsy West...all fired in Jan. 2005 after CBS concluded their "independent" investigation, even tho the tale of Shrub's service in the Texas Air National Guard was, essentially, true.

Leave of absences for a blatant deception versus terminations for a rush to air with a story improperly vetted.

IF ONLY this was a trend and NOT solely what is 'good for business'.

And it wasn't a firing, just a slap on the wrist -- a month after the fact. So that boundary line is pretty darned fuzzy.

They aren't punishing these two because they went with a one-sided hatchet job. Hatchet jobs are what 60 Minutes is all about. They are being punished because this time it was so obviously fraudulent as to be a big embarrassment.
