who do watch what they say in an argument - I certainly do, for many reasons. I engage my brain before I speak. It's all about self control. I don't feel the need to call people names, I can get my point across without resorting to name calling. I don't like to hurt other people by what I say, even if I'm mad at them so I watch what the hell I say because it can have unintended consequences.

If it's a mistake, it's a mistake. You apologize, move on and do your best to make sure it doesn't happen again. He continues to do it, that makes the apologies rather hollow.

And I don't care what problems he had with Kim, you don't talk to your child that way. Period.

"Once again, I have made an ass of myself trying to get to a phone. You have made an ass out me of for the last time. Three letters: ABA. A, Always, B, Be, A, Answering. Always be answering. Always be answering. AIDA. Attention. Interest. Decision. Action. Attention. Do I have your attention? Interest. Are you interested? I know you are 'cause it's pick up the phone or get your ass straightened out. You answer or you get hit with a brick. Decision. Have you made your decision to pick up the phone? And action. AIDA. Pick up the goddamn phone. You got a call coming in, you think I made it because I've got nothing better to do? I could be shouting shit at random people on the street, but I'm calling you. I don't care that you're twelve or eleven or whatever, are you pig enough to pick it up? I'm a good father, and you're a pig. I don't give a shit. Good father. You think this is abuse? You think this is abuse, you thoughtless pain in the ass? AIDA. Get mad you daughter-of-a-bitch. Get mad. You know what it takes to answer my call? It takes brass balls to answer my call. Go and do likewise. The phone is ringing, you pick it up, it's yours, you don't, I got no sympathy for you. I'd wish you good luck, but you wouldn't know what to do with it if you got it. You better be ready Friday the 20th to meet with me. Pig. Oh, also, tell your mother I said "Go fuck yourself." This is Dad, ring me back when you get a chance."

I think the only FUNNY part of the whole message is "I could be shouting shit at random people on the street...". How ironic and how prophetic.

This was completely unacceptable. No parent should talk to their child in such a horrific way. Nothing justifies this.

He has apologized for it and I do believe it was heartfelt. He and his daughter appear to have a good relationship since this happened which is great.

It is a family issue and that's probably where it should have remained in the first place.

Either way, it was a horrible thing for a father to say to his young daughter and there is no excusing it.

His abusive behavior reflects badly on him as it should.

He was in an ugly custody battle with his wife for years and it took a huge toll. It's sad that his child paid the price for the bad behavior of both parents.

It doesn't matter whether I excuse his behavior or not. America didn't excuse it and he was excoriated by everyone for it.

Even he acknowledged that it was inexcusable and showed heartfelt remorse. He knows how wrong it was and you should, too.

Apologies that include, "I was under a lot of pressure," are meaningless.

This is not the stress talking. It's very easy to maintain the illusion of civility when things are going well.

Under stress, people reveal their true nature.

Some people might be upsot but I'm not one of them.

Now if they would just replace him with a credible liberal journalist doing good quality investigative work rather than another pundit, celebrity and radio cast-off...that'd be nice. Liberal punditry is never going to be a thing because it comes across poorly, smug and mentally-superior; facts and hard-hitting investigative journalism are winners. than any sensitivity MSNBC has toward LGBT rights.

Unlike many other celebrity hosts and media personalities, Baldwin's risqué comments did not occur in the workplace, and despite all the public hew and cry over his outburst, his ratings were the deciding factor in MSNBC ending 'Up Late With Alec Baldwin'

"In his last show, just 101,000 viewers among adults 25-54 on Friday. That’s a 41% drop from the 172,000 demo results of the one-hour show’s October 11 debut."

That was the real kiss of death for his show, not his disparaging remarks.

She is with the Coalition for the Homeless. She had some very interesting ideas that would be very challenging to the powers that be in New York. Then right after that show, this whole outrage over insults exchanged with a "professional" celeb stalker blows up. I think the progressive community got played with this one. Baldwin has always had a reputation as a hot head so it seems he was an easy target to take out when he crossed the line and gave real air time to someone whose ideas were not properly sanitized to not step on the toes of the money people.

Baldwin should watch his mouth, but really this seemed to be blown up way out of proportion. I think we should be far more outraged about the proliferation of ridiculous celebrity gossip that takes the place of real information. These people who sell their souls for a quick buck that stalk celebrities are just cogs in the wheels of power to distract and obfuscate from who are the real enemies of ordinary people. These lackeys deserve contempt and should be ignored. That is what Baldwin should have done and not helped that creep by giving him ammunition to use against Baldwin.

I am sad that the show was stopped. He was getting better in his interview style. It was something different and much better than the crap MSNBC will play instead. It was so much better than the endless replays of Limbaugh and Palin that all the MSNBC shows play over and over again. People have a hard time focusing on real conversation which makes it hard to try something different.

I have never liked him because of it. I could never put a finger on exactly why. But it has never failed me as to the character of a person.

For a brief moment. What do you have? Certainly not a person most of us would associate with in our personal lives.
Re-insert his political beliefs - okay - it doesn't change who he is as a person.
The tirade on his daughter in that phone message was horrifying - her young age-who speaks to a child that way-especially your own?! (As if a girl not his daughter is any better) The term pig was especially alarming in regards to her weight issues at the time and what all young women in this country go through with body image lunacy.
This man is nothing like any progressive in my large family and friends circle by any remote association. I haven't even mentioned his repeated homophobic slurs. He is in the Mel Gibson camp complete with tent and sleeping bag.

74. I was thinking the same thing in regards to him being fired.

But that is always the case for American politics in general. The rw fox preaches but tolerates - dare I say even promote- that which they preach against on a DAILY basis. If someone at say MSNBC does anything inside or outside the office that is even slightly regarded as morally wrong they get the world brought down upon them.
So the processes are F'd up. Then we have people as part of this process, in this case people being Baldwin. His history cloaks the flawed process and I'm not so sure I care in this specific case. I cannot shake that phone message to his daughter. Sometimes you are who you are despite repeated apologies followed by repeated reasons to apologize.

And then tried to climb it so they could play "King of the Hill".

They're just upset because Alec is so wildly popular ever since he did his Schweaty balls skit on Saturday Night Live many years ago.
He has more talent than any of the other MSNBC hosts, so he doesn't really need that gig anyway.

However, Republicans hate his guts and they were having a field day after hearing this news on Faux Snooze yesterday.
So, Griffin, or whoever made this decision, just played in to their hands.

Greg Gutfeld was absolutely giddy over this news last night on his program "Redeye".
I only saw about 2 minutes of it because I was channel surfing, but he almost had an orgasm right there on the set after hearing this earth-shattering news.
All I can say about Gutfeld is that I hope he enjoys his golden showers because if I ever met him that would be all that he would get from me.
