Sure, but tip your wait staff generously Kelvin Mace Nov 2013 #4
Yes - that's what we did last year. Good to be extra generous on a holiday. polichick Nov 2013 #8

You can easily find the same "Black Friday" savings if not better on any given day of the year...

Which of course brought in so much $$$$ for the CEOs that it was no longer enough to have your chain open *only* 16-18 hours...

Isn't that where the term "Black Friday" originated?? As in, "The weekend guaranteed to get us into the black for this financial quarter/fiscal year?" or something??

of anything short of hostile behavior.

People are working the holidays while I have the good fortune to have a job and afford a restaurant. When I see someone is overwhelmed I try to calm them down and get them to pay attention to more demanding customers.

think about workers not being at home.

Hopefully some managers ask for volunteers - there may be workers who don't want to see their relatives! lol

going on for a long time.

The Tampa Bay Times did an editorial about it three weeks ago and I was surprised to find it has been
going on since the early 1900s.

Just another way to get the dollars early.

I hate "shopping' anyway. You won't find me in a store on Thanksgiving, or any of the other holidays, including Veterans Day.

I'm also pretty much over our capitalist economy. Anyone know of one that works?
