Pizza Hut manager fired for refusal to open on Thanksgiving Day

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/11/25/1258368/-Pizza-Hut-manager-fired-for-refusal-to-open-for-Thanksgiving-Day

Tony Rohr says he doesn't think people should have to work on a holiday like Thanksgiving.
Rohr worked at Pizza Hut for more than ten years, but says he was fired recently because he refused to open on Thanksgiving.

Rohr started at Pizza Hut as a cook and worked his way up to being a general manager of the Jackson Boulevard Pizza Hut in Elkhart.

the Fourth of July or Thanksgiving Day. I doubt Pizza Hut will make enough money to cover the costs of opening the shop that day.

if it weren't from my own personal experience I can't say he's right either.

Many years ago, when I was homeless, I scraped together just enough money to get the 5.95 all you can eat thanksgiving day special at the local Mr. Gatti's here in Texas.

No home, no family, no friends.

I ate a hot meal in their dining room and watched a special on the dicovery channel on Tanks. LOL Yeah, it was sooooooooo much fun. not.

why didn't I go to a homeless shelter? because back then, it was like lord of the flies adult version. It was safer for me on the street.

Just my two cents.

I hated that thanksgiving.

Deciding that you want to share in this way beats being forced to for minimum wage.

and if you were homeless you would also know that if you don't get to the "free" dinner in time, you don't get any.

I know of what I speak.

Don't get me wrong, I see this guys point, I stated that in the headline of my first post, but not everything is black and white.

If the store can't make a profit under those conditions, it doesn't need to be open.
