The GOP’s Late-Term Abortion Strategy Is Backfiring

As the Supreme Court announces it will hear a challenge to Obama’s contraception mandate, a study on late-term abortion seekers finds the GOP’s anti-abortion laws are backfiring.

Right wing politicians who are push laws to restrict a woman’s access to later-term abortions presumably do so because they don’t want women having abortion after 20 weeks. But new research from medical school-based scholars finds that other policies that conservative Republicans are pushing, including restrictions on access to clinics as well as constrained access to health insurance, actually result in more women seeking later-term abortions. In other words, not only are Republicans hypocrites—but their hypocrisy is backfiring.

I presume that most women who choose to abort would make that decision early in the pregnancy, assuming that they have the option to do so. After all, the later the abortion is performed, the more chance for health complications for the mother.

This article points out the reality that restricting women's access to reproductive health services screws everything up.

We need better education, universal access, and to tell the RW religious assholes to STFU. There's a huge segment of the population who choose not to live by their Medieval precepts.

and reproductive choices. The fact that republican policies actually causes MORE abortions is irrelevant to them, they don't think that deeply and wouldn't change if they did see the absolute contradictions in their actions.

The goal of the laws closing the clinics is to make it so more women can not get an abortion before 20 weeks. Thus denying her an abortion.

The GOP does not give a shit about women, this is supposedly their 'conservative values' at work in making sure we all live by one standard - theirs.

Fuck them and the horse they rode in on. Repuke states should be ashamed of the laws they are passing to take away a woman's right to own her own body.

They would much prefer women live back in the Dark Ages. Along with the men.

First, they make it illegal to have an abortion after 20 weeks. Then they put in all kids of delaying tactics for women seeking abortions before 20 weeks: waiting periods, ultrasounds, adoption classes, lectures. By the time a pregnant woman has jumped through all the hoops: oops, it's too late, now they have to have a baby.

At least, this should be obvious to any thinking person.

But see, anti-choicers don't use care about fetuses. They only care about making slut's lives more difficult.
