My mother was a 'stewardess' for American Airlines, often on routes to and from D C and NYC on DC-3's. During some of these flights, she learned to knit from Eleanor Roosevelt ! I have a newspaper photo of them together but, if you can believe this, don't have a scanner, or I would post it here.
( I also have a photo of her on the steps of what must be a DC-2 with Will Rogers in 1935, not long before he died in a crash with Wiley Post in August of that year.)
