The First Family Gives Back at Capitol Area Foodbank~ Pics, too~

@petesouza: Pres Obama greets a young girl while volunteering at the Capital Area Food Bank in DC today

Obama hands out Thanksgiving goodies to needy in DC

"WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is continuing an annual family tradition this year, by helping to pack bags of food and distribute them to the needy on Thanksgiving eve.

Obama, his wife, Michelle, daughters Malia and Sasha and his mother-in-law, Marian Robinson, dropped in Wednesday on the Capital Area Food Bank, one of the largest serving the Washington area.

They dropped bundles of sweet potatoes, onions, carrots and apples into reusable bags people held open as they walked by. They also handed out small white boxes stamped with the presidential seal that contain M&M's candy.

Obama wished people a "Happy Thanksgiving," and Malia shook their hands.

It's the third straight Thanksgiving that Obama and his family have helped out at this particular food bank.

Obama was spending the holiday at the White House."

At both the local food bank and during the food drives by the postal service. Good for the Obamas.

I believe they are far more sincere than the Paul Ryan family.

be the same thing at Christmas. Do you have turkey in Hawaii? Must be very expensive if you do. Have a great Thanksgiving.

I've worked at feeding centers (what used to be called soup kitchens) on rare occasion (filling in when someone didn't show up, mostly) and that's rewarding work, too.

Volunteered to assist with handing out bags of food last evening. The 15 year old nephew couldn't believe people would line up in the cold for food. It was a learning experience for him.

Happy Thanksgiving DUers.

Donate or help out. I put some cash into the Meals on Wheels, and have started giving out venison burger and sausage to my working - poor friends.

Great post!
