I work as a night auditor and last night guess checked in asking standard questions than he asked: "When do the newspapers get delievered?"
I said: There won't be a newspaper tomorrow because of Thanksgiving.
He said: "No you are going to get me a paper! I demand that you get me a paper."
I said: I can't sir. There are no newspapers being printed tomorrow.
He said: You will get me a newspaper or else I will talk to your manager and you will be fired.
I said--handing him my managers business card--I am sorry sir but I can't get you a newspaper.
Some people are going to be demanding like that and than I thought of the workers today. The customer may be right but they don't need to be bullies demanding the impossible.

Maybe USA Today doesn't have a Thanksgiving Day edition, but basically every single other daily newspaper in the country will.

(3,121 posts)Even if there is one published today I can't leave the hotel grounds on my shift

(23,156 posts)Of course, not being able to leave the hotel does sort of limit you.
One of the things I do not like about travelling and staying in hotels it that too many of them only have the McPaper, not whatever the local one is.
I did just go to their webset and it's impossible to tell if they had a print edition today.

(3,121 posts)but about once a week I get someone like that. Last week I had a guy who came in wanting too room and because he was a member of the chain hotel's priority club he felt he could tell me he was only paying $75 per room when in reality our room are going around $120 and his priority membership would have gotten him 10 dollars off the price.

(47,209 posts)Sorry! I was just saying he probably jumped harder on you because he knew that papers were being published, and didn't
understand other papers were not normally available.
Hope you have kinder guests in your future!

(6,199 posts)A couple checked in, then checked out the next day. They wanted a refund. The reason? It was raining, and "It never rains in California!".
There's just no helping some people.
