with use of words such as Legacy and Heritage is self-deceptive because the image they're trying to achieve has no model in today's world. It overlooks the fact that most countries where white families originated from have embraced some aspect of socialism.
England is socialist, for example. And if you think of any other Caucasian country in Europe, some aspect of government subsidized program is also included
I got this idea from this link: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10024104336
So, the kind of pure capitalist government the right-wingers seek is something that, today, would be unsustainable because of the human misery it would cause--as history has proven, time and time again.

(4,959 posts)Not even close. Are you being ironic? I am very confused.
Not only that, the US is, by design, a divergent path from its point of genesis.
It is completely rational to embrace American attitudes post-1770s while abhorring certain aspects of the present state of the culture it splintered from.
Is it hypocritical for us to denigrate blanket public cctv coverage too?

(46,700 posts)Since the Margaret Thatcher days, the socialist movement has made advances in the political system. You will find British who are open about their political preference. Such as, Patrick Stewart.

He considers himself a socialist and is a member of the Labour Party.

(4,959 posts)when that is the furthest thing from the truth. This is not a matter of opinion. England is a quintessential capitalist economy, despite some nominal socialists in government. England's centuries of imperialism have been a major driving force in the spread of capitalism into every corner of the globe over the last few centuries.
I would recommend reading up on basic social theory. The Labor party is not a socialist party.
I have a feeling this discussion is futile so I will wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and move on.

(46,700 posts)If you remember, there was much of a kerfuffle as one by one, nations fought to regain their independence. One of them was called the United States of America.
I have seen the Tory party lose ground since the Margaret Thatcher days. Perhaps I am too optimistic, but I see the growing influence of socialism as an evolutionary process.
Capitalism will always exist in some form, both in England and the U.S., but I also see that some aspect of socialism is also needed to offset the negatives of a monetary system where the strong and the ruthless continually make conditions unbearable for the largest segment of the population.

(771 posts)Legacy and heritage are used by everyone when referring to ones roots by all races. Not sure what you mean by it being deceptive when used by Caucasians. When you specify RW'ers it kind of blows up the reference because now all sense of clear, concise meaning loses any clarity.
Throwing out all Caucasian roots with the RW'er bathwater is an insult to Caucasians.
Maybe just more correct to say RW'ers efforts to bring attention to their RW'er Caucasian roots...

(46,700 posts)And the terms, "legacy" and "heritage" are buzzwords.
But I agree with your conclusion:
"Maybe just more correct to say RW'ers efforts to bring attention to their RW'er Caucasian roots..."
I will make the correction.
