(115,677 posts)Sounds almost like my meal except I have real turkey casserole since our turkey was accidentally thawed last weekend.. And we don't have dinner rolls, made the bread into stuffing casserole.

(115,677 posts)how much the inmates get? I do not know what their portions are. They probably don't have a lot to be thankful for either.
Our local food bank buys food for 7 cents a pound. True, it is uncooked, but they much prefer money donations than food. If a prison can put together a meal like this for 56 cents, that is great.
It does make me sad that the brownies on the list are donated. There is plenty to be upset about, but being able to put together a meal for 56 cents is not high on my list.

(11,012 posts)hateful nastiness that he dishes out to the inmates (for an indefinite period). Not everyone in the jail is convicted prisoner. Some are awaiting trial, and those who have had their day in court are usually convicted of minor offenses. Otherwise they would be in a state prison serving more than 366 days, not in a county jail...
