Thanksgiving is different things to different people and at different times (all holidays also)

Last edited Fri Nov 29, 2013, 06:41 PM - Edit history (1)

For some, it is the High Holiday of Family and Togetherness.
For some, it is a feast and blob out day.
For some, it is a day to help others, at a food kitchen or shelter or at a paid/volunteer job of some sort.
For some, it is a day to go out to eat, to celebrate whateverness.
For some, it is a day to celebrate the harvest.
For some, it is a day to mourn the native american genocide.
For some, it is a day to go see new release movies.

Some spend it alone.
Some spend it with others.
Some ignore it.
Some hate it, not feeling like celebrating or being thankful, instead mourning or loathing the peer pressure.

Some eat too much.
Some eat too little.
Some watch sports.
Some watch movies.
Some go for walks.

For some, it is just another day.
For some, it is the High Holiday of Togetherness.

Thanksgiving is the 4th Thursday in November according to federal holiday schedules.
Some celebrate it on that day.
Some celebrate it on another day.
Some don't celebrate it.

There is no one "Right" way to feel, be, or do. There are many different ways to act, to feel, to be. Don't hurt people, don't hurt things. Help each other as best you can.

Happy thanksgiving to you, as you may or may not celebrate it in any manner. I hope you have/had a good day.
UP.

I had a great day with family. My parents and grandmother are getting older, so I cherish every chance to get together and enjoy their fellowship.

in the kitchen. Small amount of family will arrive soon, in the meantime I miss the rest of my family that is spread out so far apart but and very grateful to have them anyway.

Enjoy the parents and grandparents, congratulations on having grandparents still. Time goes by too fast.

Go ahead and eat too much and then have a lazy (if sleepy) visit with those who could make it.

The only shopping I did was to pick up the cool whip I forgot yesterday (Kroger open until 4 - they are close to us and have a union - yes I am the type to ask those questions

I saved a couple of emails that came (with sales until Dec. 2) - I'll look at them over the weekend or next Mon. The rest I deleted ... even though I am not that much into this holiday a lot of folks are and want the time with their families.

In these times we all need a hug.

And, as you say....

Thank you for understanding. I have mostly stayed out of GD this week due to the Thanksgiving arguments, wanted to do one post here, hoping it came off positively.
