I think Jerry Brown would be a contender for 2016

I mean he is making the state of California work. He is making Obamacare work. He tried two times before and did quite well in both of those runs.

Plus it would be awesome to have a POTUS that worked with Mother Theresa.

Third time's a charm?

He made it clear in 2010 that he no longer has the fire to run for the White House, and I think that's benefited the state because he's given 100% of his concentration to governing. I hope he stays another four years to finish the job.

That's 4 years older than Biden, whom many consider not too old for a run.

That's 9 years older than Hillary whom just about everybody considers sufficiently young.

Reagan was 70 a couple of days after taking office. Gerry Brown is a lot more mentally fit than Ronald Reagan was.

If Chris Christie's obesity isn't allowed to be discussed as an issue, then I don't see where we can say Brown is too old. If I had to put money on it, I'd bet on Brown outliving Christie.

The age issue for me is not that Brown is too old to serve (assuming he has a younger and very capable running mate). The issue for me is that Obama represents a generational change from the Boomers. I have serious misgivings about going back to senior generation, especially considering that we really need the young demographic to win. Hillary may be a special case, being potentially the first female President. With either Hillary or Brown, it is vitally important that there be a younger, dynamic running-mate. And that really is a problem because we don't have any obvious people with national prominence to fill that role. Not that this is the opposite of the problem Obama had. He was considered too young by some, so he picked a much older running-mate.

Maybe somebody like Sen Udall, Sherrod Brown, or some of the Dem governors will emerge in the next 18 months.

In the case of either Clinton or Brown, I'd like to see the idea of a President really intending to serve one term and then turn it over to the VP for 2 more terms There just isn't a lot of succession planning in American politics, especially not in the Democratic party.

Let's have a candidate who is at least 10 years, if not 20, away from SS age.

but not in most other states, I think. First, he's getting pretty old. Second, his successes in California aren't all that well-known. Most of the country still thinks that California is almost bankrupt, sadly.

Jerry's a great guy, but he has a lot of political baggage from the past in the national view. The whole Governor Moonbeam image people have of him will make an electoral college win a big problem for national office, I think.

He's reached his highest possible political position, I'm certain, and he knows it. He won't put himself in the running for President again.

not the rest, I think. Jerry Brown's time for a potential Presidency is past, but not because of his age.

to keep him close.

Plus, we deserve him here in CA after the fools (repugs) we have had in the past.

I just know that if you asked Governor Brown where your city, town, hamlet, crossroads was in CA he would
be able to point to it on the CA map…he is that involved in our State.

As was Reagan, as is Biden, and Hillary is on the line.

I keep hearing Biden might run - he'd be 74 starting out. What if he begins going around the bend like Ronnie his last 2-3 years at least? Hillary I think would be 69. Jerry Brown would be a few years older than even Biden.

I think anyone over 60 even wanting to do it is nuts but I guess that kind of power is too enticing.

Like /Love them or not, the energy was palpable when relatively young candidates won the office - as with JFK and Bubba. I'd use Dubya as an example but I'm only looking at people who would be able to relate correctly the "fool me once" caution, people I'm sure easily top 3 digits IQ wise.
